coolantpressurereliefcapontheradiatorofavehiclewithanoverflow
system,followthesestepstoaddenginecoolant.
Toavoidpersonalinjury,makesuretheengineiscoolbefore
unscrewingthecoolantpressurereliefcap.Thecoolingsystemis
underpressure;steamandhotliquidcancomeoutforcefullywhenthe
capisloosenedslightly.

Slowlyturncapcounterclockwise(left)untilpressurebeginstorelease.
Beforeyoubegin,turntheengineoffandletitcool.
Whentheengineiscool,wrapathickclotharoundthecoolant

Stepbackwhilethepressurereleases.

Whenyouaresurethatallthepressurehasbeenreleased,usethe
clothtoturnitcounterclockwiseandremovethecap.

Fillthecoolantreservoirslowlywiththepropercoolantmixture(see
above),towithinthe“coldfillrange”orthe“coldfull”levelonthe
reservoir.Ifyouremovedtheradiatorcapinanoverflowsystem,fillthe
radiatoruntilthecoolantisvisibleandradiatorisalmostfull.

Replacethecap.Turnuntiltightlyinstalled.(Capmustbetightly
installedtopreventcoolantloss.)
Afteranycoolanthasbeenadded,checkthecoolantconcentrationsee
CheckingEngineCoolantsection).Iftheconcentrationisnot50/50
(protectionto–34°F/–36°C),drainsomecoolantandadjustthe
concentration.Itmaytakeseveraldrainsandadditionstoobtaina50/50
coolantconcentration.
Whenevercoolanthasbeenadded,thecoolantlevelinthecoolant
reservoirshouldbecheckedthenextfewtimesyoudrivethevehicle.If
necessary,addenough50/50concentrationofenginecoolantand
distilledwatertobringtheliquidleveltotheproperlevel.
Ifyouhavetoaddmorethan1.0liter(1.0quart)ofenginecoolantper
month,haveyourdealerchecktheenginecoolingsystem.Yourcooling
systemmayhavealeak.Operatinganenginewithalowlevelofcoolant
canresultinengineoverheatingandpossibleenginedamage.
