Yourfueltankfillercaphasanindexeddesignwitha1/8turnon/off
feature.
Whenfuelingyourvehicle:

Turntheengineoff.
Carefullyturnthefillercapcounterclockwise1/8ofaturnuntilit
stops.

Pulltoremovethecapfromthefuelfillerpipe.

Toinstallthecap,alignthetabsonthecapwiththenotchesonthe
fillerpipe.
Turnthefillercapclockwise1/8ofaturnuntilitstops.
Afterrefueling,ifthe“CHECKFUELCAP” indicatorcomesonand

staysonwhenyoustarttheengine,thefuelfillercapmaynotbe
properlyinstalled.Turnofftheengine,removethefuelfillercap,align
thecapproperlyandreinstallitsecurely.The
indicatorshouldturn
offafterthreedrivingcycleswiththefuelfillercapproperlyinstalled.A
drivingcycleconsistsofacoldenginestart-upfollowedbymixed
city/highwaydriving.
Ifyoumustreplacethefuelfillercap,replaceitwithafuelfiller
capthatisdesignedforyourvehicle.Thecustomerwarrantymay
bevoidforanydamagetothefueltankorfuelsystemifthe
correctgenuineFordorMotorcraftfuelfillercapisnotused.
