endwallscouldcauseacidtoflowthroughtheventcaps,
resultinginpersonalinjuryand/ordamagetothevehicleorbattery.
Liftthebatterywithabatterycarrierorwithyourhandsonopposite
corners.
Keepbatteriesoutofreachofchildren.Batteriescontainsulfuric
acid.Avoidcontactwithskin,eyesorclothing.Shieldyoureyes
whenworkingnearthebatterytoprotectagainstpossiblesplashingof
acidsolution.Incaseofacidcontactwithskinoreyes,flush
immediatelywithwaterforaminimumof15minutesandgetprompt
medicalattention.Ifacidisswallowed,callaphysicianimmediately.
Batteryposts,terminalsandrelatedaccessoriescontainleadand
leadcompounds.Washhandsafterhandling.
Becauseyourvehicle’sengineiselectronicallycontrolledbyacomputer,
somecontrolconditionsaremaintainedbypowerfromthebattery.When
thebatteryisdisconnectedoranewbatteryisinstalled,theenginemust
relearnitsidleandfueltrimstrategyforoptimumdriveabilityand
performance.Tobeginthisprocess:

PutthegearshiftinP(Park),turnoffallaccessoriesandstartthe
engine.

TurntheA/Conandallowtheenginetoidleforatleastoneminute.
Drivethevehicletocompletetherelearningprocess.
Thevehiclemayneedtobedriven16km(10miles)ormoreto
relearntheidleandfueltrimstrategy.

Ifyoudonotallowtheenginetorelearnitsidletrim,theidle
qualityofyourvehiclemaybeadverselyaffecteduntiltheidle
trimiseventuallyrelearned.
Whenthebatteryisdisconnectedoranewbatteryinstalled,the
transmissionmustrelearnitsadaptivestrategy.Asaresultofthis,the
transmissionmayshiftfirmly.Thisoperationisconsiderednormaland
