Always connect positive (+) to posi-
tive (+) and negative (−) to body
ground (for example, strut mounting
bolt,etc.—nottothebattery).
Make sure that cables do not touch
movingpartsintheenginecompart-
mentandthatclampsdonotcontact
anyothermetal.

Starttheengineoftheothervehicleandletit
runforafewminutes.
totheP(Park)position.Switchoffallunnec-
essary electrical systems (light, heater, air
conditioner,etc.).
WARNING

Keeptheenginespeedoftheothervehicleat
about2,000rpm,andstartyourengineinthe
normalmanner.
Always follow the instructions below.
Failuretodosocouldresultindamage
to the charging system and cause per-
sonalinjury.
3. Remove vent caps on the battery (if so
equipped). Cover the battery with an old
cloth as illustrated to reduce explosion haz-
ard.

Connect jumper cables in the sequence as
