Chemicals used for road surface de-icing are
extremely corrosive. They accelerate corrosion
and deterioration of underbody components
suchastheexhaustsystem,fuelandbrakelines,
brakecables,floorpanandfenders.
Accumulation of sand, dirt and water on the
vehicle body underside can accelerate corro-
sion.Wetfloorcoveringswillnotdrycompletely
inside the vehicle, and should be removed for
dryingtoavoidfloorpanelcorrosion.

Keepdrainholesatthebottomofthedoors
opentoavoidwateraccumulation.
In winter, the underbody must be cleaned
periodically.

Corrosion will be accelerated in areas of high
relative humidity, especially those areas where
thetemperaturesstayabovefreezingandwhere
atmospheric pollution exists and road salt is
used.
