After starting your engine, carefully discon-
nectthenegativecableandthenthepositive
cable.
WARNING
Replace the vent caps (if so equipped). Be
suretodisposeoftheclothusedtocoverthe
vent holes as it may be contaminated with
corrosiveacid.
¼ Do not continue to drive if your ve-
hicle overheats.  Doing  so could
causeavehiclefire.

CVT models cannot be push started.
This may cause transmission dam-
age.
¼
Toavoidthedangerofbeingscalded,
never remove the radiator cap while
the engine is still hot. When the ra-
diator cap is removed, pressurized
hot water will spurt  out, possibly
causingseriousinjury.
¼
Three way catalyst equipped models
should not be started by pushing
since the three way catalyst may be
damaged.
¼
Nevertrytostartthevehiclebytow-
ing it; when the engine starts, the
forward surge could cause the ve-
hicletocollidewiththetowvehicle.
¼
Do not open the hood if steam is
comingout.
If your vehicle is overheating (indicated by an
extremelyhightemperaturegaugereading),orif
youfeelalackofenginepower,detectabnormal
noise,etc.,takethefollowingsteps:
1.
Movethevehiclesafelyofftheroad,applythe
parkingbrakeandmovetheselectorleverto
theP(Park)position.
Donotstoptheengine.
2.
Turn off the air conditioner switch. Open all
the windows, move the heater or air condi-
tioner temperature control to maximum hot
