STARTING PROCEDURES
4WDModelsOnly
Beforestartingyourvehicle,adjustyourseat,adjustboth
insideandoutsidemirrors,andfastenyourseatbelts.
In4Lmode,thisvehiclewillstartregardlessofwhether
ornottheclutchpedalispressedtothefloor.Thisfeature
enhancesoff-roadperformancebyallowingthevehicleto
start when in 4L without having to depress the clutch
pedal.The4WDIndicatorLightwillilluminatewhenthe
transfercasehasbeenshiftedintothismode.
WARNING!
Do not leave children or animals inside parked
vehicles in hot weather. Interior heat buildup may
causeseriousinjuryordeath.
Automatic Transmission
StarttheenginewiththeshiftleverintheNEUTRALor 5
PARK position. Apply the brake before shifting to any
drivingrange.
Manual Transmission
Apply the parking brake, place the shift lever in NEU-
TRAL and depress the clutch pedal before starting ve-
hicle.Thisvehicleisequippedwithaclutchinterlocking
ignitionsystem.Itwillnotstartunlesstheclutchpedalis
pressedtothefloor.
Normal Starting
NOTE:
Normal starting of either a cold or a warm
engine is obtained without pumping or depressing the
acceleratorpedal.
