RefrigerantRecoveryandRecycling
R-134a Air Conditioning Refrigerant is a hydrofluoro-
carbon (HFC) that is endorsed by the Environmental
ProtectionAgency(EPA)andisanozone-savingproduct.
However,themanufacturerrecommendsthataircondi-
tioning service be performed by authorized dealers or
other service facilities using recovery and recycling
equipment.
Ifnecessary,addfluidtorestoretotheproperindicated
level.Withacleancloth,wipeanyspilledfluidfromall
surfaces.RefertoFluids,Lubricants,andGenuineParts
inthissectionforcorrectfluidtype.
Power Steering Fluid Check

Checking the power steering fluid level at a defined
serviceintervalisnotrequired.Thefluidshouldonlybe
checked if a leak is suspected, abnormal noises are
apparent,and/orthesystemisnotfunctioningasantici-
pated. Coordinate inspection efforts through an autho-
rizedDaimlerChryslerDealership.
NOTE: Uponinitialstart-upincoldweather,thepower
steeringpumpmaymakenoiseforashortperiodoftime.
Thisisduetothecold,thickfluidinthesteeringsystem.
Thisnoiseshouldbeconsiderednormal,anddoesnotin
anywaydamagethesteeringsystem.
