Windshield Wiper Blades
Body Lubrication
Clean the rubber edges of the wiper blades and the
windshieldperiodicallywithaspongeorsoftclothanda
mild non-abrasive cleaner. This will remove accumula-
tionsofsaltorroadfilm.
Locksandallbodypivotpoints,includingsuchitemsas
seat tracks, doors, tailgate and hood hinges, should be
lubricated periodically to assure quiet, easy operation
andtoprotectagainstrustandwear.Priortotheappli-
cation of any lubricant, the parts concerned should be
wiped clean to remove dust and grit; after lubricating
excess oil and grease should be removed. Particular
attention should also be given to hood latching compo-
nentstoensureproperfunction.Whenperformingother
underhood services, the hood latch, release mechanism
andsafetycatchshouldbecleanedandlubricated.
Operation of the wipers on dry glass for long periods
maycausedeteriorationofthewiperblades.Alwaysuse
washerfluidwhenusingthewiperstoremovesaltordirt
fromadrywindshield.Avoidusingthewiperbladesto
removefrostoricefromthewindshield.Keeptheblade
rubber out of contact with petroleum products such as
engineoil,gasoline,etc.
Theexternallockcylindersshouldbelubricatedtwicea
year, preferably in the Fall and Spring. Apply a small
