Spare Tire Stowage
WARNING!
Toremovethesparetirefromthecarrier,removethetire
cover,ifequipped,andremovethelugnutswiththelug
wrenchturningthemcounterclockwise.
Do not attempt to change a tire on the side of the
vehicle close to moving traffic. Pull far enough off
theroadtoavoidbeinghitwhenoperatingthejack
orchangingthewheel.
NOTE: Ifyouhaveaddedaftermarketaccessoriestothe
spare tire mounted carrier, it cannot exceed a gross
weightof50lbs(23kg)includingtheweightofthespare
tire.

Turnonthehazardwarningflashers.Referto“Hazard
WarningFlashers”inthissection.
Preparations For Jacking
Parkonafirmlevelsurface,avoidiceorslipperyareas,
set the parking brake and shift automatic transmission
intoPARK,ormanualtransmissionintoREVERSE.Turn
OFFtheignition.

Blockboththefrontandrear 6
ofthewheeldiagonallyoppo-
site of the jacking position.
For example, if changing the
right front tire, block the left
rearwheel.

Passengersshouldnotremaininthevehiclewhenthe
vehicleisbeingjacked.
