normal operation. If the TOW/HAUL mode is desired,
the switch must be pressed each time the engine is
started.
4. Wait approximately 10 seconds, then restart the en-
gine.

Movetheshiftlevertothedesiredgearrange.
Iftheproblemisnolongerdetected,thetransmissionwill
return to normal operation. If the problem persists,
PARK,REVERSE,andNEUTRALwillcontinuetooper-
ate. Only 2nd gear (3.7Land 3.0Ldiesel engine) or 3rd
gear (4.7L and 5.7L engines) will be available in the
DRIVEposition.Havethetransmissioncheckedatyour
authorizeddealerassoonaspossible.
TransmissionLimpHomeMode
Transmissionfunctionismonitoredforabnormalcondi-
tions. If a condition is detected that could result in
transmissiondamage,thetransmissionlimphomemode
will be engaged. In this mode, the transmission will
remaininthecurrentgear(3.7Land3.0Ldieselengine)or
indirectgear(4.7Land5.7Lengines)untilthevehicleis
broughttoastop.
TorqueConverterClutch
Afeature, designed to improve fuel economy, has been
includedintheautomatictransmissiononyourvehicle.
Aclutch within the torque converter engages automati-
cally,atacalibratedspeed,atlightthrottle.Itengagesat
higher speeds under heavier acceleration. This may re-
sult in a slightly different feeling or response during
normal operation in high gear. When the vehicle speed
