Donotattempttotowatrailerwhileusingacompact
sparetire.
− Do not interconnect the hydraulic brake system or
vacuumsystemofyourvehiclewiththatofthetrailer.
This could cause inadequate braking and possible
personalinjury.

Propertireinflationpressuresareessentialtothesafe
and satisfactory operation of your vehicle. Refer to
“Tires–GeneralInformation”forpropertireinflation
procedures.
− An electronically-actuated trailer brake controller is
required when towing a trailer with electronically-
actuatedbrakes.Whentowingatrailerequippedwith
ahydraulicsurge-actuatedbrakesystem,anelectronic
brakecontrollerisnotrequired.

Also, check the trailer tires for proper tire inflation
pressuresbeforetrailerusage.
Check for signs of tire wear or visible tire damage
before towing a trailer. Refer to “Tires – General
Information”forproperinspectionprocedure.

Trailer brakes are recommended for trailers over
1,000
2,000
lbs(454kg),andrequiredfortrailersinexcessof
lbs(907kg).

When replacing tires, refer to “Tires – General Infor-
mation” for proper tire replacement procedures. Re-
placingtireswithahigherloadcarryingcapacitywill
notincreasethevehicle’sGVWRandGAWRlimits.
