TOWING A DISABLED VEHICLE
Four-Wheel Drive Vehicles
The manufacturer recommends flatbed towing with all
fourwheelsOFFtheground.
Two-Wheel Drive Vehicles
If the rear wheels are on the ground (whether front
wheelsareraisedornot),thevehiclemaybetowedwith
the transmission in NEUTRAL, if the speed does not
exceed 30 mph (50 km/h) and the distance does not
exceed15miles(25km).
If a flatbed is not available, the vehicle must be towed
withallfourwheelsONtheground,thetransfercasein
neutral,andthetransmissioninPARK(automatictrans-
mission)oringear(manualtransmission).
If the vehicle must be towed at a speed OR distance
exceeding these limits, it must be towed on a flatbed or
withthedriveshaftremoved.Referto“RecreationalTow-

Towing a four-wheel drive vehicle with only two
wheels on the ground (whether front wheels are
raised, or rear wheels) is NOT permitted and can
cause severe transmission and/or transfer case dam-
age.SuchdamageisnotcoveredbytheNewVehicle
LimitedWarranty.
Towing the vehicle with the rear wheels on the
ground at more than 30 mph (50 km/h) or for more
than15miles(25km)cancauseseveretransmission
damage. Such damage is not covered by the New
VehicleLimitedWarranty.
