Wheninsectssticktothepaintsurface
anddecompose,corrosivecompounds
form.Thesecanerodetheclearandcolor
basecoatofthevehicle'spaintworkif
theyarenotremoved.

damage,withtipsonhowtoprevent

scratchthesapoffwhileitishard,some

Prevention
Industrialpollutantsandvehicleemissions
driftintotheairandmixwithrainordew
toformacids.Theseacidscansettleona
vehicle'sfinish.Asthewaterevaporates,
theacidbecomesconcentratedandcan
damagethefinish.
ItisnecessarytohaveyourMazda
washedandwaxedtopreserveitsfinish
accordingtotheinstructionsinthis
section.Thisshouldbedoneassoonas
possible.
Andthelongertheacidremainsonthe
surface,thegreaterthechanceisfor
damage.
Birddroppingscanberemovedwitha
softspongeandwater.Ifyouaretraveling
andthesearenotavailable,amoistened
tissuemayalsotakecareoftheproblem.
Thecleanedareashouldbewaxed
accordingtotheinstructionsinthis
section.
Insectsandtreesaparebestremovedwith
asoftspongeandwateroracommercially
availablechemicalcleaner.
Prevention
Itisnecessarytowashandwaxyour
vehicletopreserveitsfinishaccordingto
theinstructionsinthissection.These
stepsshouldbetakenimmediatelyafter
yoususpectthatacidrainhassettledon
yourvehicle'sfinish.
Anothermethodistocovertheaffected
areawithdampenednewspaperforoneto
twohours.Afterremovingthenewspaper,
rinseoffthelooseneddebriswithwater.
