Wheninstallingachildsafetyseat:

Usethecorrectsafetybeltbuckle
forthatseatingposition(the
buckleclosesttothedirectionthe
tongueiscomingfrom).
Insertthebelttongueintothe
properbuckleuntilyouheara
snapandfeelitlatch.Makesurethetongueissecurelyfastenedinthe
buckle.
Keepthebucklereleasebuttonpointingupandawayfromthesafety
seat,withthetonguebetweenthechildseatandthereleasebutton,
topreventaccidentalunbuckling.
Placeseatbackinuprightposition.
Putthesafetybeltintheautomaticlockingmode.RefertoAutomatic
lockingmode(passengersidefrontandoutboardrearseating
positions)(ifequipped)sectioninthischapter.
Fordrecommendstheuseofachildsafetyseathavingatoptether
strap.Installthechildsafetyseatinaseatingpositionwithatether
anchor.Formoreinformationontoptetherstraps,refertoAttaching
childsafetyseatswithtetherstrapsinthischapter.
Carefullyfollowallofthemanufacturer’sinstructionsincluded
withthesafetyseatyouputinyourvehicle.Ifyoudonotinstall
andusethesafetyseatproperly,thechildmaybeinjuredinasudden
stoporcollision.
Rear-facingchildseatsorinfantcarriersshouldneverbeplaced
inthefrontseats.
