ToAccelerateforPassing
Depresstheacceleratorasyouwouldnormally.Whenthe
pedalisreleased,thevehiclewillreturntothesetspeed.
WARNING!
Leaving the Speed Control ON when not in use is
dangerous.Youcouldaccidentallysetthesystemor
cause it to go faster than you want. You could lose
control and have an accident. Always leave the
systemOFFwhenyouaren’tusingit.
NOTE: When driving uphill, at elevations above 2,000
feet (610 meters), or when the vehicle is heavily loaded
(especiallywhentowing)thevehiclemayslowbelowthe
SETspeed.Ifthevehiclespeeddropsbelow30mph(48
km/h)for3.7L/4.7Lengines,25mph(40km/h)for5.7L
engines, and 14 mph (23 km/h) for 3.0Ldiesel engines,
the Speed Control will automatically disengage. If this
happens,youcanpushdownontheacceleratorpedalto
maintainthedesiredspeed.
DrivingUporDownHills
When going up or down hills, it is possible for your
vehicle to lose or gain speed, even though the Speed
Controlisengaged.Theautomatictransmissionmayalso
downshifttoalowergear,tomaintainspeedgoingupor
downhills.Ifgoingdownahillsteepenoughtocausethe
vehicletogainspeed,pressthebrakepedal,whichwill
disengagetheSpeedControlandhelpslowyourvehicle.
Vehicles may exhibit several 4-3 downshifts under the
aboveconditions.Toreducethefrequencyofthedown-
shiftsandtoimprovevehicleperformance,itisadvisable
tolockoutoverdrive.PresstheTOW/HAULswitchon
the lower center switch bank (below the Heating/Air
Conditioningcontrols).
