Properoperationoffourwheeldrivevehiclesdependson
tires of equal size, type, and circumference on each
wheel.Any difference will adversely affect shifting and
causedamagetothetransfercase.
Whenadditionaltractionisrequired,the4LOWposition
canbeusedtolockthefrontandreardriveshaftstogether
andforcethefrontandrearwheelstorotateatthesame
speed.The4LOWpositionisintendedforloose,slippery
roadsurfacesonly.Drivinginthe4LOWpositionondry
hard surfaced roads may cause increased tire wear and
damagetodrivelinecomponents.
Because four wheel drive provides improved traction,
thereisatendencytoexceedsafeturningandstopping
speeds.Donotgofasterthanroadconditionspermit.

Whenoperatingyourvehiclein4LOW,theenginespeed
isapproximatelythreetimesthatofthe4HIpositionata
givenroadspeed.Takecarenottooverspeedtheengine
anddonotexceed25mph(40km/h).
