ofbrakingeffectiveness.
The parking brake should always be applied whenever
thedriverisnotinthevehicle.
ANTI-LOCKBRAKESYSTEM
TheAnti-LockBrakeSystemconductsalow-speedself-
test at about 12 mph (20 km/h). If you have your foot
lightlyonthebrakewhilethistestisoccurringyoumay
feelslightpedalmovement.Themovementcanbemore
apparentoniceandsnow.Thisisnormal.
TheAnti-LockBrakeSystem(ABS)isdesignedtoaidthe
driver in maintaining vehicle control under adverse
brakingconditions.Thesystemoperateswithaseparate
computer to modulate hydraulic pressure to prevent
wheel lock-up and help avoid skidding on slippery
surfaces.
The Anti-Lock Brake System pump motor runs during
theself-testat12mph(20km/h)andduringanABSstop.
The pump motor makes a low humming noise during
operation,whichisnormal.
All vehicle wheels and tires must be the same size and
type and tires must be properly inflated to produce
accuratesignalsforthecomputer.
