ESP (Electronic Stability Program) cannot prevent
the natural laws of physics from acting on the
vehicle, nor can it increase the traction afforded by
prevailingroadconditions.ESPcannotpreventacci-
dents, including those resulting from excessive
speedinturns,drivingonveryslipperysurfaces,or
hydroplaning. Only a safe, attentive, and skillful
driver can prevent accidents. The capabilities of an
ESP-equippedvehiclemustneverbeexploitedina
reckless or dangerous manner which could jeopar-
dizetheuser’ssafetyorthesafetyofothers.
ThisisthenormaloperatingmodeforESPin4WDhigh
range and in 2WD vehicles. Whenever the vehicle is
startedorthetransfercase(ifequipped)isshiftedfrom
4WDlowrangeorneutralbackto4WDhighrange,the
ESP system will be in this mode. This mode should be
usedformostalldrivingsituations.ESPshouldonlybe
turnedto“PartialOff”or“FullOff”forspecificreasons
asnotedbelow.
PartialOff
This mode is entered by momentarily depressing the
ЉESP Control SwitchЉ. When in ЉPartial OffЉ mode, the
TCSportionofESP,exceptforthe“limitedslip”feature
describedintheTCSsection,hasbeendisabledandthe
ЉESP/TCSIndicatorLightЉwillbeilluminated.Allother
stabilityfeaturesofESPfunctionnormally.Thismodeis
intendedtobeusedifthevehicleisindeepsnow,sand,
