Thisindicatorshouldnever
comeonwhentheengineis
running.Ifitstartsflashingorstays
on,theoilpressurehasdroppedvery
loworlostpressure.Seriousengine
damageispossible,andyoushould
takeimmediateaction.
1.Safelypullofftheroad,andshut
offtheengine.Turnonthehazard
warninglights.
Theenginerunninggeneratestheoil
pressure.WhentheAutoIdleStopis
activated,theengineisstopped,the
oilpressureisdropped,andthelow
oilpressureindicatordoesnotcome
on.
2.Letthevehiclesitforaminute.
Openthehood,andchecktheoil
level(seepage245).Anengine
verylowonoilcanlosepressure
duringcorneringandotherdriving
maneuvers.
Running the engine with low oil
pressure can cause serious mechanical
damage almost immediately. Turn off
the engine as soon as you can safely get
the vehicle stopped.
3.Ifnecessary,addoiltobringthe
levelbacktothefullmarkonthe
dipstick(seepage285).

.Starttheengineandwatchtheoil
pressureindicator.Ifitdoesnotgo
outwithin10seconds,turnoffthe
engine.Thereisamechanical
problemthatneedstoberepaired
beforeyoucancontinuedriving
