Iftheelectrolytelevelinthebatteryislow,youcan
addplaintapwatertothebattery,aslongasyoudo

alkalicontent).Ifpossible,however,trytoonlyfill
thebatterycellswithdistilledwater.Ifthebattery
needswateroften,havethechargingsystem
checked.
Keeptheelectrolytelevelineachcelluptothe
“levelindicator”.Donotoverfillthebattery
cells.
Forlonger,trouble-freeoperation,keepthetopof
thebatterycleananddry.Also,makecertainthe
batterycablesarealwaystightlyfastenedtothe
batteryterminals.
Ifyouseeanycorrosiononthebatteryorterminals,
removethecablesfromtheterminalsandcleanwith
awirebrush.Youcanneutralizetheacidwitha
solutionofbakingsodaandwater.Reinstallthe
cableswhenyouaredonecleaningthem,andapply
asmallquantityofgreasetothetopofeachbattery
terminaltohelppreventcorrosion.
Ifyourbatteryhasacover/shield,makesureit
isreinstalledafterthebatteryhasbeen
cleanedorreplaced.
Batteriesnormallyproduceexplosivegases
whichcancausepersonalinjury.Therefore,
donotallowflames,sparksorlightedsubstances
tocomenearthebattery.Whenworkingnearthe
battery,alwaysshieldyourfaceandprotectyour
eyes.Alwaysprovideproperventilation.
