Safety belt maintenance
Inspectthesafetybeltsystemsperiodicallytomake
suretheyworkproperlyandarenotdamaged.
Inspectthesafetybeltstomakesurethereareno
nicks,wearsorcuts,replacingifnecessary.All
safetybeltassemblies,includingretractors,buckles,
frontseatbeltbuckleassemblies(slidebar)(if
equipped),shoulderbeltheightadjusters(if
equipped),childsafetyseattetherbracket
assemblies(ifequipped),andattachinghardware,
shouldbeinspectedafteracollision.Ford
recommendsthatallsafetybeltassembliesusedin
vehiclesinvolvedinacollisionbereplaced.However,
ifthecollisionwasminorandaqualifiedtechnician
findsthatthebeltsdonotshowdamageand
continuetooperateproperly,theydonotneedtobe
replaced.Safetybeltassembliesnotinuseduringa
collisionshouldalsobeinspectedandreplacedif
eitherdamageorimproperoperationisnoted.
