AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OPERATION
Brake-shift interlock
Thisvehicleisequippedwithabrake-shiftinterlock
featurethatpreventsthegearshiftfrombeingmoved
fromP(Park)unlessthebrakepedalispressed.
IfyoucannotmovethegearshiftoutofP(Park)
withthebrakepedaldepressed:
1.
Applytheparkingbrake,turnignitionkeyto
LOCK,thenremovethekey.
2.
InsertthekeyandturnittoOFF.Applythebrake
pedalandshifttoN(Neutral).
3.
Startthevehicle.
Ifitisnecessarytousetheaboveprocedureto
movethegearshift,itispossiblethatafusehas
blownandthevehicle’sbrakelampsmaynotbe
operatingproperly.RefertoFusesandrelaysinthe
Roadsideemergencieschapter.
Donotdriveyourvehicleuntilyouverify
thatthebrakelampsareworking.
Ifyourvehiclegetsstuckinmudorsnowitmaybe
rockedoutbyshiftingfromforwardandreverse
gears,stoppingbetweenshifts,inasteadypattern.
Presslightlyontheacceleratorineachgear.Donot
rockthevehicleformorethanafewminutes,
becauseitcoulddamagethevehicle.
