Warninglightsandgaugescanalertyoutoavehicleconditionthatmay
becomeseriousenoughtocauseexpensiverepairs.Awarninglightmay
illuminatewhenaproblemexistswithoneofyourvehicle’sfunctions.
Manylightswillilluminatewhenyoustartyourvehicletomakesurethe
bulbworks.Ifanylightremainsonafterstartingthevehicle,havethe
respectivesysteminspectedimmediately.
Serviceenginesoon:Yourvehicle
isequippedwithacomputerthat
monitorstheengine’semission
controlsystem.Thissystemis
commonlyknownastheOnBoardDiagnosticsSystem(OBDII).The
OBDIIsystemprotectstheenvironmentbyensuringthatyourvehicle
continuestomeetgovernmentemissionstandards.TheOBDIIsystem
alsoassiststheservicetechnicianinproperlyservicingyourvehicle.
The
indicatorlightilluminateswhentheignitionisfirstturnedto
theRUNpositiontocheckthebulb.Ifitcomesonaftertheengineis
started,oneoftheengine’semissioncontrolsystemsmaybe
malfunctioning.Thelightmayilluminatewithoutadriveabilityconcern
beingnoted.Thevehiclewillusuallybedrivableandwillnotrequire
towing.
Whatyoushoulddoifthe
lightilluminates
Lightturnson(withoutblinking):
ThismeansthattheOBDIIsystemhasdetectedamalfunction.
Temporarymalfunctionsmaycauseyour
