IfyoucannotmovethegearshiftleveroutofP(Park)withignitionin
theONpositionandthebrakepedaldepressed:
1.
Applytheparkingbrake,turnignitionkeytoLOCK,thenremovethe
key.
2.
Locatetheaccesscoverplateto
thebrake-shiftinterlock
override.Itislocatedonthetop
ofthesteeringcolumn.
3.
Insertatool(orascrewdriver)
intotheright-handsideofthe
brake-shiftinterlockaccess
coverandremovethecover.
4.
Insertatool(orscrewdriver)
intotheaccessholetooverride
thebrake-shiftinterlock.Apply
thebrakeandshiftintoNeutral
whileholdingdowntheoverride
tab.
Ifitisnecessarytousetheaboveproceduretomovethegearshiftlever,
itispossiblethatafusehasblownorthevehicle’sbrakelampsarenot
operatingproperly.RefertoFusesandrelaysintheRoadside
emergencieschapter.
