Avoidrunningoutoffuelbecausethissituationmayhaveanadverse
affectonpowertraincomponents.
Ifyouhaverunoutoffuel:

YoumayneedtocycletheignitionfromOFFtoONseveraltimesafter
refueling,toallowthefuelsystemtopumpthefuelfromthetankto
theengine.
The
indicatormaycomeon.Formoreinformationonthe“Check
Engine”indicator,refertotheInstrumentClusterchapter.
Fuel Filler Cap
Yourfueltankfillercaphasanindexeddesignwitha1/8turnon/off
feature.
Whenfuelingyourvehicle:

Turntheengineoff.
Pullthefuelfillerdoorreleasehandletoopenthefuelfillerdoor.
Carefullyturnthefillercapcounterclockwise1/8ofaturnuntilit
stops.

Pulltoremovethecapfromthefuelfillerpipe.
Toinstallthecap,alignthetabsonthecapwiththenotchesonthe
fillerpipe.

Turnthefillercapclockwise1/8ofaturnuntilitstops.
Afterrefueling,ifthe“CHECKFUELCAP”indicatorcomesonandstays
onwhenyoustarttheengine,thefuelfillercapmaynotbeproperly
installed.Turnofftheengine,removethefuelfillercap,alignthecap
properlyandreinstallitsecurely.Theindicatorshouldturnoffafter
threedrivingcycleswiththefuelfillercapproperlyinstalled.Adriving
cycleconsistsofacoldenginestart-upfollowedbymixedcity/highway
driving.
Ifyoumustreplacethefuelfillercap,replaceitwithafuelfiller
capthatisdesignedforyourvehicle.Thecustomerwarrantymay
bevoidforanydamagetothefueltankorfuelsystemifthe
correctgenuineMazdafuelfillercapisnotused.
