The
warninglampintheinstrumentclustermomentarilyilluminates
ABS
whentheignitionisturnedtotheONposition.Ifthelightdoesnot
illuminatemomentarilyatstartup,remainsonorcontinuestoflash,the
ABSneedstobeserviced.
WiththeABSlighton,theanti-lock
brakesystemisdisabledandnormal
brakingisstilleffectiveunlessthe
brakewarninglightalsoremains
illuminatedwithparkingbrake
!
BRAKE
released.(Ifyourbrakewarninglampilluminates,haveyourvehicle
servicedimmediatelybyanauthorizedMazdadealership.)
Using four wheel ABS (if equipped)
•
InanemergencyorwhenmaximumefficiencyfromtheABSis
required,applycontinuousforceonthebrake.TheABSwillbe
activatedimmediately,thusallowingyoutoretainfullsteeringcontrol
ofyourvehicleand,providingthereissufficientspace,willenableyou
toavoidobstaclesandbringthevehicletoacontrolledstop.
WARNING: TheAnti-Locksystemdoesnotdecreasethetime
necessarytoapplythebrakesoralwaysreducestopping
distance.Alwaysleaveenoughroombetweenyourvehicleand
thevehicleinfrontofyoutostop.
NOTE:Werecommendthatyoufamiliarizeyourselfwiththisbraking
technique.However,avoidtakinganyunnecessaryrisks.
Parking brake
Applytheparkingbrakewhenever
thevehicleisparked.Tosetthe
parkingbrake,applythebrakepedal
andpulltheparkingbrakehandle
upasfaraspossible.
