DRIVING THROUGH WATER
Donotdrivequicklythroughstandingwater,especiallyifthe
depthisunknown.Tractionorbrakecapabilitymaybelimited
andiftheignitionsystemgetswet,yourenginemaystall.Water
mayalsoenteryourengine’sairintakeandseverelydamageyour
engine.
Ifdrivingthroughdeeporstandingwaterisunavoidable,proceedvery
slowly.Neverdrivethroughwaterthatishigherthanthebottomofthe
hubs(fortrucks)orthebottomofthewheelrims(forcars).
Oncethroughthewater,alwaystrythebrakes.Wetbrakesdonotstop
thevehicleaseffectivelyasdrybrakes.Dryingcanbeimprovedby
movingyourvehicleslowlywhileapplyinglightpressureonthebrake
pedal.
Drivingthroughdeepwaterwherethetransmissionventtubeis
submergedmayallowwaterintothetransmissionandcause
internaltransmissiondamage.Havethefluidcheckedand,if
waterisfound,replacethefluid.

Beforeloadingavehicle,familiarizeyourselfwiththefollowingterms:

equipment,fluids,lubricants,etc.Itdoesnotincludeoccupantsor
aftermarketequipment.

ratingminusbasecurbweight.

CertificationLabelonthedriver’sdoorpillar.
