Iftheenginecoolanthasnotbeencheckedattherecommendedinterval,
theenginecoolantreservoirmaybecomeloworempty.Ifthereservoiris
loworempty,addenginecoolanttothereservoir.RefertoAdding
enginecoolantinthischapter.
WARNING: Automotivefluidsarenotinterchangeable;donot
useenginecoolant,antifreezeorwindshieldwasherfluid
outsideofitsspecifiedfunctionandvehiclelocation.
Adding engine coolant
Whenaddingcoolant,makesureitisa50/50mixtureofenginecoolant
anddistilledwater.Addthemixturetothecoolantreservoir,whenthe
engineiscool,untiltheappropriatefilllevelisobtained.
WARNING: Donotaddenginecoolantwhentheengineishot.
Steamandscaldingliquidsreleasedfromahotcoolingsystem
canburnyoubadly.Also,youcanbeburnedifyouspillcoolant
onhotengineparts.
WARNING: Donotputenginecoolantinthewindshieldwasher
fluidcontainer.Ifsprayedonthewindshield,enginecoolant
couldmakeitdifficulttoseethroughthewindshield.
