Disp osal of Used Engin e Coolan t
bleed valve located on the top of the rad iator in the
engine compartm ent on the passengers side. Use the
bleed valve to bleed air when the system is cold and the
pressu re cap is rem oved from the coolant bottle.
Used ethylene glycol based engine coolant is a regu lated
substance requ iring prop er disposal. Check with you r
local authorities to determ ine the disposal rules for you r
community. To prevent ingestion by anim als or child ren
do not store ethylene glycol based engine coolant in open
containers or allow it to rem ain in puddles on the
grou nd . If ingested by a child , contact a physician
immediately. Clean up any grou nd spills immediately.
Poin ts to Rem ember
NOTE: When the vehicle is stop ped after a few miles of
operation, you may observe vap or coming from the front
of the engine compartm ent. This is norm ally a resu lt of
moistu re from rain, snow, or high hu midity accumulat-
ing on the rad iator and being vap orized when the
therm ostat opens, allow ing hot water to enter the rad ia-
tor.
Coolan t Level
The coolant bottle provid es a quick visu al method for
determ ining that the coolant level is adequ ate. With the
engine off and cold, the coolant level shou ld be betw een
the ranges ind icated on the bottle. Some darkening of the
coolant bottle will occur over time. This is norm al.
If an exam ination of you r engine compartm ent show s no
evid ence of rad iator or hose leaks, the vehicle may be
safely driven. The vap or will soon dissip ate.
When additional coolant is need ed to maintain the
prop er level, it shou ld be added to the coolant bottle. Do
not overfill. When filling the cooling system , utilize the
