The infant carrier is only used rearw ard -facing in the
vehicle. It is recom mend ed for child ren who weigh up
to abou t 9 kg (20 lbs). ЉConvertible Љ child seats can be
used either rearw ard -facing or forw ard -facing in the
vehicle. Convertible child seats often have a higher
weight limit in the rearw ard -facing direction than
infant carriers do, so they can be used rearw ard -facing
by child ren who weigh more than 9 kg (20 lbs) but are
less than one year old.
child seats used in the forw ard -facing direction are for
child ren who weigh 9 to 18 kg (20 to 40 lbs) and who
are older than one year.

The belt-p ositioning booster seat is for child ren weigh- 2
ing more than 18 kg (40 lbs), but who are still too small
to fit the vehicle’s seat belts prop erly. If the child can
not sit with knees bent over the vehicles seat cushion
while the child ’s back is against the seat back, they
shou ld use a belt-p ositioning booster seat. The child
and booster seat are held in the vehicle by the lap/
shou lder belt. (Some booster seats are equ ipped with a
front shield and are held in the vehicle by the lap
portion.)

Rearw ard -facing child seats must NEVER be used in
the front seat of a vehicle with a front passenger
airbag. An airbag deploym ent could cause severe
injury or death to infants in this position.
Child ren who weigh more than 9 kg (20 lbs) and who
are older than one year can rid e forw ard -facing in the
vehicle. Forw ard -facing child seats and convertible
