THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE STARTING YOUR VEHICLE

If a child from 1 to 12 years old must rid e in the front
passenger seat becau se the vehicle is crow ded, move the
seat as far back as possible, and use the prop er child
restraint. Refer to the section on Child Restraint.
Infants in rear facing child restraints shou ld NEVER rid e
in the front seat of a vehicle with a passenger front airbag.
An airbag deploym ent can cause severe injury or death to
infants in that position.
You shou ld read the instru ctions provid ed with you r
child restraint to make sure that you are using it prop erly.
Child ren that are not big enou gh to prop erly wear the
vehicle seat belt (refer to section on Child Restraint)
shou ld be secured in the rear seat, in a child restraint or
belt-p ositioning booster seat approp riate for the size and
age of the child . Old er child ren who do not use a child
restraint or belt-p ositioning booster seat shou ld rid e
prop erly buckled up in the rear seat. Never allow chil-
dren to slide the shou lder belt behind them or und er their
arm .
2. All occupants should wear their lap and shoulder
belts prop erly.

The driver and fron t passen ger seats should be
moved back as far as practical to allow the fron t airb ags
room to inflate.
4. If you r veh icle has left and righ t sid e curtain airb ags,
do not lean again st the door, airb ags will inflate force-
fully into the space betw een you and the door.
