Yourvehicleisequippedwithanemissioncontrolsystem(thecatalyticconverterispartof

thissystem)thatenablesyourvehicletocomplywithexistingexhaustemissions

requirements.

WARNING

Neverparkoverornearanythingflammable:

Parkingoverornearanythingflammable,suchasdrygrass,isdangerous.Evenwith

theengineturnedoff,theexhaustsystemremainsveryhotafternormaluseandcould

igniteanythingflammable.Aresultingfirecouldcauseseriousinjuryordeath.

CAUTION

Ignoringthefollowingprecautionscouldcauseleadtoaccumulateonthecatalystinside

theconverterorcausetheconvertertogetveryhot.Eitherconditionwilldamagethe

converterandcausepoorperformance.

USEONLYUNLEADEDFUEL.

Don'tdriveyourMazdawithanysignofenginemalfunction.

Don'tcoastwiththeignitionswitchturnedoff.

Don'tdescendsteepgradesingearwiththeignitionswitchturnedoff.

Don'toperatetheengineathighidleformorethan2minutes.

Don'ttamperwiththeemissioncontrolsystem.Allinspectionsandadjustmentsmust

bemadebyaqualifiedtechnician.

Don'tpush-startorpull-startyourvehicle.

NOTE

UnderU.S.federallaw,anymodificationtotheoriginal-equipmentemissioncontrol

systembeforethefirstsaleandregistrationofavehicleissubjecttopenalties.Insome

states,suchmodificationmadeonausedvehicleisalsosubjecttopenalties.

NOTE

Whiletheengineisoff,thesoundofavalveopeningandclosingcanbeheardbelowthe

trunk,howeverthisdoesnotindicateanabnormality.Yourvehiclehasaself-checking

deviceanditoperateswhiletheengineisoff.
