doesnotindicateamalfunction.
Ifthepassengerairbagdeactivationindicatorlightdoesnotilluminatewhentheignition
switchisturnedtotheONpositionanddoesnotilluminateasindicatedintheabovechart,
donotallowachildtositinthepassengerseatandconsultanAuthorizedMazdaDealeras
soonaspossible.Thesystemmaynotworkproperlyinanaccident.Youmustdeactivate
thepassengerairbagusingthekey(page2-30)andconsultanAuthorizedMazdaDealer.
WARNING
Donotdecreasethetotalseatedweightonthefrontpassengerseat:
Whenanadultorlargechildsitsonthepassengerseat,decreasingthetotalseated
weightonthepassengerseatfromthetotalseatedweightofapproximately42kg(93
lb)requiredforairbagdeploymentisdangerous.Thepassengerseatweightsensors
willdetectthereducedtotalseatedweightconditionandthepassengerfrontandside
airbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemwillnotdeployduringanaccident.The
passengerwillnothavethesupplementaryprotectionoftheairbag,whichcould
resultinseriousinjury.Decreasingthetotalseatedweightonthepassengerseatfrom
thetotalseatedweightofapproximately42kg(93lb)couldresultinanairbagnot
deployingunderthefollowingconditions,forexample:
Luggageorotheritemsplacedunderthepassengerseatorbetweenthepassenger

seatandcenterconsolethatpushupthepassengerseatbottom.
Thepassengerseatoccupantsitsinamannersuchthattheoccupant'sentire
l
weightisnotplacedontheseatsittingtooclosetothedoor.
Anyaccessorieswhichmightdecreasethetotalseatedweightonthepassengerseat
l
areattachedtothepassengerseat.
Thepassengerfrontandsideairbagsandseatbeltpretensionersystemswill
deactivateifthetotalseatedweightonthepassengerseatiscloseto30kg(66lb)and
theywillreactivatebeforetheweightexceeds42kg(93lb).
