Usingadamagedseatbeltisdangerous.Anaccidentcoulddamagethebeltwebbing
oftheseatbeltinuse.Adamagedseatbeltcannotprovideadequateprotectionina
collision.HaveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspectallseatbeltsystemsinuseduring
anaccidentbeforetheyareusedagain.
Haveyourseatbeltschangedimmediatelyifthepretensionerorloadlimiterhasbeen
expended:
Iftheairbagsdeploythecorrespondingpretensioner(s)mayalsodeployatthesame
time.Whileitissafertouseacrash-usedseatbeltthatwasusedinanaccidentthan
noseatbeltatall,usingaseatbeltwithanexpendedpretensionerorloadlimiter
loadedreducesthesafetyavailabletoyou.Liketheairbags,theseatbeltpretensioners
willonlyfunctiononce.Aftertheyareexpended,theywillnotfunctionagainand
mustbereplacedimmediately.Iftheseatbeltpretensionersarenotreplaced,therisk
ofinjuryinacollisionwillincrease.AlwayshaveanAuthorizedMazdaDealerinspect
theseatbeltpretensionersandairbagsafteranycollision.Expendedseatbelt
pretensionersandairbagsmustbereplacedafteranycollisionwhichcausedthemto
deploy.Additionally,theloadlimiterwillonlylimitloadsonthechestonceina
collisionandthisisanotherreasontohavetheseatbeltsinspected.
CAUTION
Beltretractionmaybecomedifficultifthebeltsandseatbeltguidesaresoiled,sotryto
keepthemclean.Formoredetailsaboutcleaningtheseatbelts,referto“Cleaningthe
Lap/ShoulderBeltWebbing”(page8-59).
