Attaching child safety seats with tether straps
Manyforward-facingchildsafetyseatsincludeatetherstrapwhich
extendsfromthebackofthechildsafetyseatandhookstoananchoring
pointcalledthetoptetheranchor.Tetherstrapsareavailableasan
accessoryformanyoldersafetyseats.Contactthemanufacturerofyour
childseatforinformationaboutorderingatetherstrap,ortoobtaina
longertetherstrapifthetetherstraponyoursafetyseatdoesnotreach
theappropriatetoptetheranchorinthevehicle.
Therearseatsofyourvehicleareequippedwithbuilt-intetherstrap
anchorslocatedbehindtheseatsasdescribedbelow.
Thetetheranchorsinyourvehiclearelocatedunderacovermarked
withthetetheranchorsymbol(shownwithtitle).
Thetetherstrapanchorsinyour
vehicleareinthefollowingpositions
(shownfromtopview):
Attachthetetherstraponlytotheappropriatetetheranchorasshown.
Thetetherstrapmaynotworkproperlyifattachedsomewhereother
thanthecorrecttetheranchor.
Oncethechildsafetyseathasbeeninstalled,usingeitherthesafetybelt,
theloweranchorsoftheLATCHsystem,orboth,youcanattachthetop
tetherstrap.
Performthefollowingstepstoattachachildsafetyseattothetether
anchor:
1.
Routethechildsafetyseattetherstrapoverthebackoftheseat.
Forvehicleswithadjustableheadrestraints,routethetetherstrapunder
theheadrestraintandbetweentheheadrestraintposts,otherwiseroute
thetetherstrapoverthetopoftheseatback.
2.
Locatethecorrectanchorforthe
selectedseatingposition.
