Service Data Recording
Servicedatarecordersinyourvehiclearecapableofcollectingand
storingdiagnosticinformationaboutyourvehicle.Thispotentially
includesinformationabouttheperformanceorstatusofvarioussystems
andmodulesinthevehicle,suchasengine,throttle,steeringorbrake
systems.Inordertoproperlydiagnoseandserviceyourvehicle,Ford
MotorCompany,FordofCanada,andserviceandrepairfacilitiesmay
accessvehiclediagnosticinformationthroughadirectconnectiontoyour
vehiclewhendiagnosingorservicingyourvehicle.ForU.S.only(if
equipped),ifyouchoosetousetheSYNCVehicleHealthReport,you
consentthatcertaindiagnosticinformationmayalsobeaccessed
electronicallybyFordMotorCompanyandFordauthorizedservice
facilities,andthatthediagnosticinformationmaybeusedforany
purpose.SeeyourSYNCsupplementformoreinformation.
EventDataRecording
Othermodulesinyourvehicle—eventdatarecorders—are
capableofcollectingandstoringdataduringacrashornear
crashevent.Therecordedinformationmayassistinthe
investigationofsuchanevent.Themodulesmayrecord
informationaboutboththevehicleandtheoccupants,potentially
includinginformationsuchas:

howvarioussystemsinyourvehiclewereoperating;
whetherornotthedriverandpassengerseatbeltswere
buckled;

howfar(ifatall)thedriverwasdepressingtheaccelerator
and/orthebrakepedal;

howfastthevehiclewastraveling;and
wherethedriverwaspositioningthesteeringwheel.
