system.TheAWDsystemisanactivesystem,meaningitnotonly
respondstowheelslipbetweenthefrontandrearaxlesbutalsohasthe
abilitytoanticipatewheelslipandtransfertorquetotherearwheels
beforeslipoccurs.TheAWDsystemisactiveallthetimeandrequiresno
inputfromtheoperator.
AllcomponentsoftheAWDsystemaresealedforlifeandrequireno
maintenance.
IfyourvehicleisequippedwithAWD,asparetireofadifferentsize
otherthanthetireprovidedshouldneverbeused.Adissimilarsparetire
size(otherthanthesparetireprovided)ormajordissimilartiresizes
betweenthefrontandrearaxlescouldcausetheAWDsystemtostop
functioninganddefaulttofrontwheeldrive.
Note:YourAWDvehicleisnotintendedforoff-roaduse.TheAWD
featuregivesyourvehiclesomelimitedoff-roadcapabilitiesinwhich
drivingsurfacesarerelativelylevel,obstruction-freeandotherwise
similartonormalon-roaddrivingconditions.Operatingyourvehicle
underotherthanthoseconditionscouldsubjectthevehicletoexcessive
stresswhichmightresultindamagewhichisnotcoveredunderyour
warranty.
Driving on slippery surfaces with AWD vehicles
AWDvehiclesarespeciallyequippedfordrivingonsand,snow,mudand
roughroadsandhaveoperatingcharacteristicsthataresomewhat
differentfromconventionalvehicles,bothonandoffthehighway.
Whendrivingatslowspeedsoff-highwayunderhighoutside
temperatures,useL(Low)gearwhenpossible.L(Low)gearoperation
willmaximizetheengineandtransmissioncoolingcapability.
