Positions of the ignition

Off—locksthegearshiftlever
andallowskeyremoval.This
positionalsoshutstheengineand
allelectricalaccessoriesoff.
2.
Accessory—allowstheelectrical
accessoriessuchastheradioto
operatewhiletheengineisnot
running.
3.
On—allelectricalcircuitsoperational.Warninglightsilluminated.Key
positionwhendriving.
4.
Start—crankstheengine.Releasethekeyassoonastheengine
starts.
Starting your vehicle
Enginestartingiscontrolledbythepowertraincontrolsystem.
ThissystemmeetsallCanadianinterference-causingequipmentstandard
requirementsregulatingtheimpulseelectricalfieldstrengthofradio
noise.
Whenstartingafuel-injectedengine,don’tpresstheacceleratorbefore
orduringstarting.Onlyusetheacceleratorwhenyouhavedifficulty
startingtheengine.Formoreinformationonstartingthevehicle,referto

Toavoidpotentialtransmissiondamageatextremelycoldtemperatures
(below-20°F[-30°C]),itisrecommendedthatthevehiclebewarmedup
tonormaloperatingtemperaturebeforedrivingathighwayspeedsabove
50
mph(80km/h).Normaloperatingtemperatureisnormallyreached
after10minutesofmoderatedrivingoridling.
WARNING:Extendedidlingathighenginespeedscanproduce
veryhightemperaturesintheengineandexhaustsystem,
creatingtheriskoffireorotherdamage.
WARNING:Donotpark,idle,ordriveyourvehicleindrygrass
orotherdrygroundcover.Theemissionsystemheatsupthe
enginecompartmentandexhaustsystem,whichcanstartafire.
