SNOW TIRES AND CHAINS
WARNING:Snowtiresmustbethesamesize,loadindex,speed
ratingasthoseoriginallyprovidedbyFord.Useofanytireor
wheelnotrecommendedbyFordcanaffectthesafetyand
performanceofyourvehicle,whichcouldresultinanincreasedriskof
lossofvehiclecontrol,vehiclerollover,personalinjuryanddeath.
Additionally,theuseofnon-recommendedtiresandwheelscould
causesteering,suspension,axleortransfercase/powertransferunit
failure.
Thetiresonyourvehiclehaveallweathertreadstoprovidetractionin
rainandsnow.However,insomeclimates,youmayneedtousesnow
tiresandchains.Ifyouneedtousechains,itisrecommendedthatsteel
wheels(ofthesamesizeandspecifications)beused,aschainsmaychip
aluminumwheels.
Followtheseguidelineswhenusingsnowtiresandchains:

UseonlySAEclass“S”cablesorequivalentonthefrontaxlefor
P215/60R17equippedvehicles.SAEclass“S”chainsorother
conventionallinkchainsmaycausedamagetothevehicleswheel
houseand/orbody.Useofoptionalspikespidertypetractiondevices
orequivalentisalsoacceptable.

Donotinstalltirechains,cables,oroptionaltractiondevicesonthe
reartires.Thiscouldcausedamagetothevehicle’swheelhouseor
body.

Donotusetirechains,cables,oroptionaltractiondeviceswith
optionalP225/55R18tires.
Installcablechainssecurely,verifyingthatthecablesdonottouchany
wiring,brakelinesorfuellines.
Drivecautiously.Ifyouhearthecablesruborbangagainstyour
vehicle,stopandre-tightenthecables.Ifthisdoesnotwork,remove
thecablestopreventdamagetoyourvehicle.

Ifpossible,avoidfullyloadingyourvehicle.
Removethetirecableswhentheyarenolongerneeded.Donotuse
tirecablesondryroads.
