Turnthekeyto4(start),thenreleasethekeyassoonastheengine
beginscranking.Yourvehiclehasacomputerassistedcrankingsystem
thatassistsinstartingtheengine.Afterreleasingthekeyfromthe4
(start)position,theenginemaycontinuecrankingforupto10seconds
oruntilthevehiclestarts.
Note:Crankingmaybestoppedatanytimebyturningthekeytotheoff
position.

Afteridlingforafewseconds,releasetheparkingbrake,applythe
brake,shiftintogearanddrive.
Note:Iftheenginedoesnotstartonthefirsttry,turnthekeytotheoff
position,wait10secondsandtryStep2again.Iftheenginestillfailsto
start,presstheacceleratortothefloorandtryStep2again,keepingthe
acceleratorontheflooruntiltheenginebeginstoaccelerateabove
crankingspeeds;thiswillallowtheenginetocrankwiththefuelshutoff
incasetheengineisfloodedwithfuel.
Guarding against exhaust fumes
Carbonmonoxideispresentinexhaustfumes.Takeprecautionstoavoid
itsdangerouseffects.
WARNING:Ifyousmellexhaustfumesinsideyourvehicle,have
yourdealerinspectyourvehicleimmediately.Donotdriveifyou
smellexhaustfumes.
Important ventilating information
Iftheengineisidlingwhilethevehicleisstoppedforalongperiodof
time,openthewindowsatleastoneinch(2.5cm)oradjusttheheating
orairconditioningtobringinfreshair.
ENGINE BLOCK HEATER (IF EQUIPPED)
Anengineblockheaterwarmstheenginecoolantwhichaidsinstarting
andallowstheheater/defrostersystemtorespondquickly.Ifyourvehicle
isequippedwiththissystem,yourequipmentincludesaheaterelement
whichisinstalledinyourengineblockandawireharnesswhichallows
theusertoconnectthesystemtoagrounded120volta/celectrical
source.Theblockheatersystemismosteffectivewhenoutdoor
temperaturesreachbelow0°F(-18°C).
WARNING:Failuretofollowengineblockheaterinstructions
couldresultinpropertydamageorphysicalinjury.
