Donotpark,idle,ordriveyourvehicleindrygrassorotherdry
groundcover.Theemissionsystemheatsuptheengine
compartmentandexhaustsystem,whichcanstartafire.
Donotstartyourvehicleinaclosedgarageorinotherenclosed
areas.Exhaustfumescanbetoxic.Alwaysopenthegaragedoor
beforeyoustarttheengine.SeeGuardingagainstexhaustfumesin
thischapterformoreinstructions.
Ifyousmellexhaustfumesinsideyourvehicle,haveyourdealer
inspectyourvehicleimmediately.Donotdriveifyousmell
exhaustfumes.
Important safety precautions
Acomputersystemcontrolstheengine’sidlerevolutionsperminute
(RPM).Whentheenginestarts,theidleRPMrunshigherthannormalin
ordertowarmtheengine.Iftheengineidlespeeddoesnotslowdown
automatically,havethevehiclechecked.Donotallowthevehicletoidle
formorethan10minutesatthehigherengineRPM.
Beforestartingthevehicle:

Makesureallvehicleoccupantshavebuckledtheirsafetybelts.For
moreinformationonsafetybeltsandtheirproperusage,refertothe
Seatingandsafetyrestraintschapter.
2.Makesuretheheadlampsandvehicleaccessoriesareoff.
3.Makesuretheparkingbrakeis
set.
