DonotexceedtheGVWRortheGAWRspecifiedonthe

certificationlabel.

Donotusereplacementtireswithlowerloadcarryingcapacitiesthanthe

originalsbecausetheymaylowerthevehicle’sGVWRandGAWR

limitations.Replacementtireswithahigherlimitthantheoriginalsdo

notincreasetheGVWRandGAWRlimitations.

TheSafetyCertificationLabel,foundonthedriver’sdoorpillar,lists

severalimportantvehicleweightratinglimitations.Beforeaddingany

additionalequipment,refertotheselimitations.Ifyouareaddingweight

tothefrontofyourvehicle,(potentiallyincludingweightaddedtothe

cab),theweightaddedshouldnotexceedthefrontaxlereservecapacity

(FARC).Additionalfrontalweightmaybeaddedtothefrontaxlereserve

capacityprovidedyoulimityourpayloadinotherways(i.e.restrictthe

numberofoccupantsoramountofcargocarried).

Alwaysensurethattheweightofoccupants,cargoandequipmentbeing

carriediswithintheweightlimitationsthathavebeenestablishedfor

yourvehicleincludingbothgrossvehicleweightandfrontandreargross

axleweightratinglimits.Undernocircumstanceshouldtheselimitations

beexceeded.

Exceedinganyvehicleweightratinglimitationcouldresultin

seriousdamagetothevehiclelossofvehiclecontrol,vehicle

rollover,and/orpersonalinjury.

Special loading instructions for owners of pickup trucks and

utility-type vehicles

Forimportantinformationregardingsafeoperationofthistype

ofvehicle,seethePreparingtodriveyourvehiclesectionin

thischapter.

Loadedvehicles,withahighercenterofgravity,mayhandle

differentlythanunloadedvehicles.Extraprecautions,suchas

slowerspeedsandincreasedstoppingdistance,shouldbetakenwhen

drivingaheavilyloadedvehicle.

passengercars.Dependinguponthetypeandplacementoftheload,
