Adjusting automatic transmission fluid levels
Beforeaddinganyfluid,makesurethecorrecttypeisused.Thetypeof
fluidusedisnormallyindicatedonthedipstickandalsointhe
Lubricantspecificationssectioninthischapter.
Useofanon-approvedautomatictransmissionfluidmaycause
internaltransmissioncomponentdamage.
Ifnecessary,addfluidin250ml(1/2pint)incrementsthroughthefiller
tubeuntiltheleveliscorrect.
Ifanoverfilloccurs,excessfluid
shouldberemovedbyaqualified
technician.
Anoverfillconditionof
transmissionfluidmaycauseshiftand/orengagementconcerns
and/orpossibledamage.
Donotusesupplementaltransmissionfluidadditives,treatmentsor
cleaningagents.Theuseofthesematerialsmayaffecttransmission
operationandresultindamagetointernaltransmissioncomponents.
AIR FILTER MAINTENANCE
Refertothescheduledmaintenanceguidefortheappropriateintervals
forchangingtheairfilterelement.
Whenchangingtheairfilterelement,useonlytheMotorcraftairfilter
elementlisted.RefertoMotorcraftPartNumbers.
Note:Donotstartyourenginewiththeaircleanerremovedanddonot
removeitwhiletheengineisrunning.
Changing the air filter element
1.
Disconnectthefreshairinlettube
fromtheradiatorsupport.
2.
Loosentheclampthatsecures
thetwohalvesoftheairfilter
housingtogether.
