Iftheenginereachesapresetover-temperaturecondition,theengine
willautomaticallyswitchtoalternatingcylinderoperation.Eachdisabled
cylinderactsasanairpumpandcoolstheengine.
Whenthisoccursthevehiclewillstilloperate.However:

Theenginepowerwillbelimited.
Theairconditioningsystemwillbedisabled.
Continuedoperationwillincreasetheenginetemperatureandtheengine
willcompletelyshutdown,causingsteeringandbrakingeffortto
increase.
Oncetheenginetemperaturecools,theenginecanbere-started.Take
yourvehicletoaservicefacilityassoonaspossibletominimizeengine
damage.
When fail-safe mode is activated
Youhavelimitedenginepowerwheninthefail-safemode,sodrivethe
vehiclewithcaution.Thevehiclewillnotbeabletomaintainhigh-speed
operationandtheenginewillrunrough.Rememberthattheengineis
capableofcompletelyshuttingdownautomaticallytopreventengine
damage,therefore:

Pullofftheroadassoonassafelypossibleandturnofftheengine.
Arrangeforthevehicletobetakentoaservicefacility.
Ifthisisnotpossible,waitashortperiodfortheenginetocool.
Checkthecoolantlevelandreplenishiflow.
Neverremovethecoolantreservoircapwhiletheengineis
runningorhot.

Re-starttheengineandtakeyourvehicletoaservicefacility.
