AMandFMstationsmayusefortheirbroadcasts.Allowablefrequencies

FM87.7,87.9107.7,107.9MHz
Notallfrequenciesareusedinagivenarea.
RADIO RECEPTION FACTORS
Threefactorscanaffectradioreception:
Distance/strength.ThefurtheranFMsignaltravels,theweakeritis.
ThelistenablerangeoftheaverageFMstationisapproximately40km
(24
miles).Thisrangecanbeaffectedbysignalmodulation.Signal
modulationisaprocessradiostationsusetoincreasetheir
strength/volumerelativetootherstations.
Terrain.Hills,mountainsandtallbuildingsbetweenyourvehicles
antennaandtheradiostationsignalcancauseFMreceptionproblems.
StaticcanbecausedonAMstationsbypowerlines,electricfences,
trafficlightsandthunderstorms.Movingawayfromaninterfering
structure(outofitsshadow)returnsyourreceptiontonormal.
Stationoverload.Weaksignalsaresometimescapturedbystronger
signalswhenyoupassabroadcasttower.Astrongersignalmay
temporarilyovertakeaweakersignalandplaywhiletheweakstation
frequencyisdisplayed.
Theaudiosystemautomaticallyswitchestosinglechannelreceptionifit
willimprovethereceptionofastationnormallyreceivedinstereo.
