helpskeepfuelvaporfromgoing
intotheatmosphere.Tryfillingat
anotherpump.Ifthisdoesnotfixthe
problem,consultyourdealer.
TightenFuelCapMessage
replacethefuelfillcap.Toscrollto
anothermessage,presstheINFO
button.The‘‘TIGHTENFUELCAP’’
messagewillappeareachtimeyou
restarttheengineuntilthesystem
turnsthemessageoff.

.Screwthefuelfillcapbackon
untilitclicksatleastonce.Ifyou
donotproperlytightenthecap,
youwillseea‘‘TIGHTENFUEL
CAP’’messageonthemulti-
informationdisplay,andthe
malfunctionindicatorlampmay
alsocomeon(seepage 68 ).
Yourvehicle’sonboarddiagnostic
systemwilldetectalooseormissing
fuelfillcapasanevaporativesystem
leak.Thefirsttimealeakisdetected
a‘‘TIGHTENFUELCAP’’message
appearsonthemulti-information
display.Turntheengineoff,and
confirmthefuelfillcapisinstalled.If
itis,loosenit,thenretightenituntil
itclicksatleastonce.Themessage
shouldgooffafterseveraldaysof
normaldrivingonceyoutightenor

.Pushthefuelfilldoorcloseduntil
itlatches.
