Thevehiclestabilityassist(VSA)
systemhelpstostabilizethevehicle
duringcorneringifthevehicleturns
moreorlessthandesired.Italso
assistsyouinmaintainingtraction
whileacceleratingonlooseor
slipperyroadsurfaces.Itdoesthis
byregulatingtheengine’soutput,
andbyselectivelyapplyingthe
brakes.
Onmanualtransmissionmodels,if
Iftheindicatordoesnotcomeon
whentheignitionswitchisturnedto
theON(II)position,theremaybea
problemwiththeVSAsystem.Have
yourdealerinspectyourvehicleas
soonaspossible.
theVSAsystemisoffandyou
acceleratefromastop,thevehicle
maypull,anditmaytakeextraeffort
toreturnthesteeringwheelto
center.
VSAActivationIndicator
WithoutVSA,yourvehiclewillhave
normalbrakingandcorneringability,
butitwillnothaveVSAtractionand
stabilityenhancement.
WhenVSAactivates,youwillseethe
VSAactivationindicatorblink(see
page 61 ).
WhenVSAactivates,youmaynotice
thattheenginedoesnotrespondto
theacceleratorinthesamewayit
doesatothertimes.
VSASystemIndicator
Ifthisindicatorcomesonwhile
driving,pulltothesideoftheroad
whenitissafe,andturnoffthe
engine.Resetthesystemby
restartingtheengine.IftheVSA
systemindicatorstayson,orcomes
backonwhiledriving,havetheVSA
systeminspectedbyyourdealer.
TheVSAsystemcannotenhancethe
vehicle’sdrivingstabilityinall
situationsanddoesnotcontrolyour
vehicle’sentirebrakingsystem.Itis
stillyourresponsibilitytodriveand
corneratreasonablespeedsandto
leaveasufficientmarginofsafety.
