month),thereareseveralthingsyou
shoulddotoprepareitforstorage.
Properpreparationhelpsprevent
deteriorationandmakesiteasierto
getyourvehiclebackontheroad.If
possible,storeyourvehicleindoors.
Blocktherearwheels.
Coverthevehiclewitha
‘‘breathable’’cover,onemade
fromaporousmaterialsuchas
cotton.Non-porousmaterials,such
asplasticsheeting,trapmoisture,
whichcandamagethepaint.
Ifthevehicleistobestoredfora
longerperiod,itshouldbe
supportedonjackstandssothe
tiresareofftheground.
Leaveonewindowopenslightly(if
thevehicleisbeingstored
indoors).
Ifpossible,periodicallyrunthe
engineuntilitreachesfull
operatingtemperature(the
coolingfancyclestwice).
Fillthefueltank.
Changetheengineoilandfilter.
Disconnectthebattery.
Preferably,dothisonceamonth.
Washanddrytheexterior
completely.
Supportthefrontwiperblade
armswithafoldedtowelorragso
theydonottouchthewindshield.
Cleantheinterior.Makesurethe
carpeting,floormats,etc.,are
completelydry.
Tominimizesticking,applya
siliconespraylubricanttoalldoor
andtrunkseals.Also,applya
vehiclebodywaxtothepainted
surfacesthatmatewiththedoor
andtrunkseals.
Leavetheparkingbrakeoff.Put
thetransmissioninreverse
(
manual)orPark(automatic).
