Tip Start Feature
If Engine Fails to Start
Donotpresstheaccelerator.Turntheignitionkeybriefly
toSTARTposition,andreleaseit.Thestartermotorwill
continue to run, and it will disengage automatically
whentheengineisrunning.Iftheenginefailstostart,the
starterwilldisengageautomaticallyin10seconds.Ifthis
occurs, turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position,
wait 10 to 15 seconds, then repeat the normal starting
procedure.

• throttleNeverpourbodyfuelairorinletotheropeningflammableinanattemptliquidintotostartthe
thevehicle.Thiscouldresultinflashfirecausing
seriouspersonalinjury.

Donotattempttopushortowyourvehicletogetit
started.Vehiclesequippedwithanautomatictrans-
missioncannotbestartedthisway.Unburnedfuel
could enter the catalytic converter and once the
enginehasstarted,igniteanddamagetheconverter
andvehicle.Ifthevehiclehasadischargedbattery,
boostercablesmaybeusedtoobtainastartfroma
booster battery or the battery in another vehicle.
Thistypeofstartcanbedangerousifdoneimprop-
erly. Refer to Section 6 for proper jump-starting
proceduresandfollowthemcarefully.
Extremely Cold Weather (BelowϪ20°F orϪ29°C)
To ensure reliable starting at these temperatures, use of
anexternallypoweredelectricengineblockheater(avail-
ablefromyourauthorizeddealer)isrecommended.
